Steam for Linux

Steam for Linux

Update: No. | Did Valve just delete a Valve-skeptical thread?
Update: The OP states that he deleted the thread himself.

The thread "Does Valve really want people to use linux?" seems to be gone, at least the URL is now redirecting to the forum overview:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/0/828934913229286709/

I would have expected that Valve don't care.
(Let's see how long this thread lasts)

Here's a cached version, sadly only includes the first four posts: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:4Z816gdJpn4J:steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/0/828934913229286709/+&cd=1&hl=de&ct=clnk&gl=de&client=ubuntu

Edit:
Second thread I noticed to be deleted is "Steam > Root? How is that possible" (was http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/0/828934913359267955/)

That thread is kinda insulting, I can imagine why they removed it.
It was a thread designed entirely to flame, anti-valve or not it should have been removed, and it was, very insulting, not to mention misguided.

Why exactly do you assume that just because you value Linux above all others that Valve does too? I don't expect them to do any more promotions than they did for Mac.

Valve might be producing the steambox under Linux, but even if they are, that doesn't make trying to convert everyone to Linux is good market tactics, it really isn't. and seeming partial toward a minority like that, after starting out on windows probably isn't good for their larger image.
I read that as being silly, not Valve skeptical. I actually though I replied to it saying it was such but I guess I did not.

I don't expect that, of course. And yes, the OP wasn't a very sane suggestion, that's true too.
I replied to the question "Does Valve really want people to use linux?" that they just want free beta testers.

I just thought they wouldn't care about an anti-Valve thread in such a (relatively) small forum.
Wow, the next thread to be gone is "Steam > Root? How is that possible?" (was http://steamcommunity.com/app/221410/discussions/0/828934913359267955/)

The poster could have removed it him self. and does it really matter at all??. that thread was stupid anyway.
Can they remove all of the "zomg let's integrate wine into steam for linux" threads??? If they're going to remove threads, remove the stupid ones.

True, not a feature often found in forums, that the thread creator can remove the whole thread with all posts.
I deleted it myself because people didn't get it and took it too seriously. They ruined the fun.

Now I suggest the OP does the same thing with this thread.

I didn't know that people can delete whole threads (and I'm not sure I like it), and I've already seen some threads vanishing. So... thanks for this thread!

Yup, I don't like it either. Some people whose issue got solved by the help of others might just delete their thread because their issue is solved. But that would be against the "spirit" of forums.

I updated the first post.
Conspiracy?
I guess OP of that thread got proven wrong (or proven idiot), so to avoid further humiliation he deleted his thread :) Happens all the time.
