can we expect hammer for linux also? I think this looks very promising! I hope the SDK and hammer will be cross platform for Windows, OS X and Linux

“Joining the Linux Foundation is one of many ways Valve is investing in the advancement of Linux gaming. Through these efforts, we hope to contribute tools for developers building new experiences on Linux, compel hardware manufacturers to prioritize support for Linux, and ultimately deliver an elegant and open platform for Linux users,” said Mike Sartain of Valve.

The really big challenge will be to bring other studios to release on SteamOS/Steam Linux, especially studios that have invested already many resources into Windows development. Hopefully the concept behind SteamOS and its potential draw more developers, that and a killer game from Valve (read HL3 and others) to be an "exclusive" (for a short while anyway) SteamOS release.
