The message you posted appeard in the standard news: http://store.steampowered.com/news/
But it is still not easy to get to know about games that already have been available for other platforms - and suddently pop up also in the Linux section.
Idk if it would be a wise idea to contact the Steam support about it? Maybe?
An external ressource is always http://steamdb.info/linux/
Some RSS-feeds would be very helpful indeed!
As long as Valve doesn't do it, we could do it ourselves:

For now, I don't even get such notifications for games I own, let alone games on my wishlist. The "game on your wishlist is on sale" also doesn't always work either.
But the real point is - currently I went through all the games that available for Linux, I bought some and I added some others to my wishlist - but I don't want to bother browsing through games w/o Linux support as I cannot play them anyway. So every time a game gets Linux support, I would like to get a note and check it out. As Zyro said, there is some money on the table that can be earned by adding this simple feature. :-)

I wonder if they'll now do that for every game getting a Linux port, or just for the "big" titles.
I didn't see any news about recent port of The Bridge for example.
