Allow Library window to close entirely?
So something that's been kinda irritating me about the Linux Steam client is that the main window only minimizes when you click the close button. I find this takes up too much space in my taskbar, and as there's already an icon in the notifications area, I would rather it didn't do this. Does anyone know of a way to change this behavior?

Maybe the minimise button isn't working? I haven't seen any problems on my side.

Both the minimize button and the close button do the same thing on my machine - only on the main window, though. Friends, settings, etc. do close when I click the close button.

I see what you mean. It could have something to do with the Desktop environment you're using. On Unity minimise and close do the same thing. On Unity, when you minimise something the icon in the launcher remains if it's pinned; and if the app closes and is pinned to the launcher yet would still be visible. I think the reason Friends, settings, etc close when you click the close button is because they are not pinned to the launcher; whereas the actual Steam client is?

That's probably it, yeah. As a KDE user, though, it's just odd behavior... was hoping it would be configurable, but I haven't found an option.

$ STEAM_FRAME_FORCE_CLOSE=1 steam

I don't know about KDE, but for XFCE you can solve this by adding the following line to the end of your .profile in your home folder:

export STEAM_FRAME_FORCE_CLOSE=1

You'll need to log out and log back in to your account (computer, not Steam) for it to take effect.

That's exactly what I was looking for! Thanks to both of you!

I've noticed that using that option however makes the tray icon menu slow.
(not steam menus or anything, just the tray icon menu only)
