<1Kbps when downloading games?
Hey everyone,

Just installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on a new system I built. I'm new to Ubuntu/Linux so apologies in advance if I need a little handholding on suggestions. I installed Ubuntu and setup ICS (internet connection sharing) in a Windows 7 Laptop, connected via ethernet and works fine. I downloaded Steam for Linux, installed fine. I downloaded Surgeon Simulator - downloaded normally ~3MB/s. I went to download L4D2, and I'm getting <1Kbps. I've tried everything - changing locations, rebooting, googling, etc. but can't seem to make any difference. I always connect and the download remains fluctuating between .1-1Kbps. still gives 25Mbps down/5Mbps up.

Edit - Downloaded Reus to see if that improved - it did, but only temporarily. Started at ~2MBps, then dropped steadily down to <10Kbps. Currently fluctuating between 50Kbps-200Kbps

Any suggestions/thoughts/help?

It may be your wireless card or router, do other downloads out of Steam download at consistent speeds?

It never is a problem with my router, it's definitely related to Steam.

The server that works best for me is Vancouver/Canada.
