Steam for Linux

Steam for Linux

Steam won't launch.
I use an old desktop PC as my secondary system and it runs Lubuntu. I'm trying to connect to steam but it doesn't launch. Once I open it and type my info, it starts to update and after that the screen goes black for a while and then it closes (I can see that from my other computer: "*insert PC name here* Disconnected from Steam").

Have you tried to run from the command line and see what it spits out as error? If the process hangs you can simply hit ctrl-c to interrupt it.

See if "steam --reset" helps.

I get the following message:
"Couldn't find bootstrap, it's not safe to reset Steam. Please contact techichnical support."

wow, I get some weird message saying: "(steam:2788): LIBDBUSMENU-GLIB-WARNING **: Trying to remove a child that doesn't believe we're it's parent."

That is when steam is running.

After steam crashes I got this message:
"CrashID=bp-b9f4d400-9e3b-4011-94cd-8626c2140720"

If you need the whole message just let me know.

(By the way, I like it how you both have linux penguins as avatars :P)
