can't start steam on ubuntu 14.04
well i installed steam on my new ubuntu machine, but steam just simply doesn't open, i tried running on a terminal and i got this

my system specs
corei7 2600k
8Gb ram DDr3
GTX770 2GB

I am having the same problem but only if I opt into the steam beta. When it updates to the beta it tries to restart but just fails with the same problem as you have (a segmentation fault)

But if I reinstall steam from scratch then it works again.
Maybe you should try reinstalling steam and see if that helps.

(If you have any games downloaded and don't want to redownload all of the games you can move the ~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps directory to somewhere else first, then after reinstall put it back

install steam while your using the open source drivers and not the pritortary ones let it download and then login... Close steam reinstall pritortary drivers re run steam :P

They are pre-installed, you don't install them. Additionally, there are no other drivers for Intel GPUs, their own driver is the open source one.
