Download for linux returns a 403 error.
So me and my friend have been trying to install steam on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS without succes, we tried doing it with aptitude but it would say that it couldn't find the package (steam, steam64, steam-launcher) and when we try to use the button on the download page it gives us a 403 error saying that we're not allowed on this page. If there is any explanation for this, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks!

Oh well, I can wait as long it gets fixed up soon, I'm temporarily using wine now to use steam and that works well so far.

You should be able to install from https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/steam-launcher/

As said above, apt-get install steam-launcher isn't working either, we don't have the catalog either since we use a seperated dedicated server. (e.g: server 1 has x GB RAM etc)

You only have command line?

Try It's intended for Ubuntu 12.04 but it should work.

the apt system was improved a few months ago, now you should use only apt
to more info: man apt

are you sure that's the name of the steam package in ubuntu?
what happen if you run this command? apt search steam-launcher

i use debian and the steam client package is steam, not steam-launcher
