Linux game giveaways
Let's revive giveaways for Linux friends!

While the original giveaway of this posting (The Journey Down - episode 1) is done, feel free to share what you've got!

I (re)used the following idea of making sure the receiver is a Linuxer (ask for it or not, as you like): Please post a screenshot of a console with the output of "uname -a" and your steam name in the screenshot, like that http://i.imgur.com/aJhuuFu.png. If there are several gift offers, you should state what game you'd like.

Addendum 12/2014: Valve implemented regional locking mechanisms for gifts, so it would probably be valuable if you state from which region you are gifting. Gifts coming from lower price regions might be restricted.

Personal: I prefer to make permanent friends with people I know in real life, so don't feel bad when I withdraw friendships made for gifts afterwards.

Oh, cool!
Someone giving earlier than someone taking!
What game will that be?

Teslagrad :) I'm a member of a site that gives out free game keys every month. Usually games like this. It's awesome, but this time I happened to own it already, so why not give it away for free to somebody else :D

Hmm, I have an extra copy of Frozen Synapse, but it seems the only way to give it away is as a gift -- I don't think I have any separate code. However, this shouldn't be a problem either.

Forzen Synapse is great! People, go and grab it from his hands! :D

Let's make it a tiny bit trickier. To get it, answer the following question... Yesterday, I went to the shop to buy some donuts. One donut costs exactly a buck. I had 10 bucks in my pocket, so I thought I could probably buy 10 donuts. But then I decided it wasn't too healthy and bought just two donuts. Upon reaching home, however, I was quite surpised to find my pocket empty! Where have the 10 bucks gone?!
Toadrill [Linux] Aug 12, 2014 @ 7:59am
A man walking along the street sees another man walking in the opposite direction attempting to carry two donuts and call someone on his phone at the same time. He thinks to himself how good a donut would be, but he hasn't got any cash. Then he sees it: $8 of crumpled up bills clumsily dropped by someone reaching into their pocket. (for a phone perhaps?) He is astonished by his newfound luck as he walks into the donut shop. He thinks to himself, "I could probably buy eight donuts, but that is really not very healthy. I'll just buy two.". he leaves the shop, donuts in hand, and decides to share his good fortune with someone else, so he left his $4 laying on the ground in front of a donut shop. The cashier notices that throughout the day 2 men a couple and a father and son, all had crumpled up cash that day.
(she got one he got two and the kid bought one and split it with his dad)

tl:dr: it was all spent on donuts

If you haven't yet started earning your living as a writer, you should. Seriously. I liked your story so much that even though the answer is actually wrong, I think you completely deserve the prize. Add me as a friend and I'll send you the game.

Now, the correct answer is rather more prosaic: I actually had had exactly two bucks in my pocket from the very beginning. But being a nerd, I sometimes tend to use binary system instead. And 10 in binary is exactly two in decimal. So why the confusion? Well, being a nerd also means I have cravings for sugar, so I easily slip into wishful thinking at the thought of those sweet, yummy donuts...

Moral of the story both stories: Don't succumb to gluttony -- you can stay healthier and, as it turns out, you can also make a few people around happier. ;)

As Toadrill got (and earned) his copy of Frozen Synapse,
there's still episode 1 of The Journey Down left.
Anyone interested enough to do the screenshot? :)
