SPOILERS Ending?
After Phillip enters the furnace to escape, we are given a view of the computer from Black Plague's ending with a corpse, presumably Phillip's, in front of it. If the game is from Phillip's perspective, how are we seeing this? Is someone else there? Or was Phillip transferred into the body of a Tuurngait when he was killed, and we see from the Tuurngait's eyes? Is that blip that shows up on the computer a response from the trusted person he told to kill the Tuurngait? Despite having almost no story at all compared to the last two games, this is only story/ending that actually confused me.

It was a Dream....

Seriously? The whole time, I thought he was dead or taken over by the virus and we were playing through some mental obstacle course or out-of-body experience. It seems kind of lame if we were just dreaming. By the way, I think it's fun to talk in spoilers!

It isn't a dream. Or at least, that's no how I interpreted it. The way I saw it was that the ending with Phillip's corpse is supposed to show that Phil had stopped fighting for his life (represented by him joining Red in the furnace and they both burn) and succumbs to the blow from the infected.

The ending where he suddenly shows up on the ship represents him still being unconscious but is now forced to mentally relive the events of the first two games in an endless loop by the Tuurngait.

That's my take on it.

But why would the Tuurngait do that to him, i thought that they liked him...

Think about it, it assimilated pretty much everyone in the facility and killed off/tried to kill off any and all survivors. When it decides that Phillip is the execption to the whole "humans are monsters" thing, it made absolutely no mention of letting him leave or if he'll even be left alive. Phil correctly assumes that whether he does as the Tuurngait says or not is irrelevant and it will kill/assimilate him anyway.

Best answer for why it would force Phil to mentally relive all he's gone through in the previous games for eternity is likely that it wanted to punish Phil for "betraying" them and possibly for daring to not do what was asked of him.
