GFWL?
being a microsoft game i guess GFWL will be mandatory, if that is the case I'll better stick to my old discs. *Mod Edit for Visibility - The game does not require GFWL*

It doesn't say it's required on the store page, so here's hoping.
It also claims to use Steam's multiplayer features so that means it isn't using GFWL for multiplayer.

Could you guys put this in a sticky? I believe the majority of the community interested in AoE II would love to know this.

Solicest is a M$ represetative. (Note his green name and the official [Developer] tag on his above post, not the quote).

I'm glad Microsoft chose Valve over EA.

GFWL isn't EA. EA has nothing to do with this discussion.

Wow, what a hardass.

I'm quite aware what GFWL is. Its made by Microsoft for game clients, similar to Steam. I meant I'm glad Microsoft decided to go with Valve on this rather than ask EA to host this on their Origin client.

Okay....
It's still off topic, just like I said in the post you quoted.

Best news an entire generation of gamers has ever heard. Not just that it's being launched on Steam, but the fact that M$ seem to be ditching GFWL, and the main point being the remake itself. You can't get much more awesome in a single thing.
