The game implies the sun is setting on the Tomorrow Corporation. But it is rising for you, Sugar Plumps, and Miss Nancy.

The sun is doing what all stars do at the end of their natural cycle. It's dying and taking the planets that orbit it with it. That is why it appears so large in the sky.

So that's why it was so cold for so long (OPPOSITE DAY FOR TEMPATURES) and why the sun was "so big you could almost touch it" at the end of the game before the weather man over the smokestacks and the city brings you safely away from the city, totally not going to die when the sun explodes.
