The code i need to enter.

when i click play (to start the game, a mini tab pops up saying i need to enter a 'special code' and the game will prompt me when i need to, i start up the game and it does the cut sceenes and takes me to the menue, i havent been prompted to enter any code, i click new game, still no code, in game, all i can see is white........... any help? any one??? this has really annoyed me cause i really wanna play the game...

I was never prompted to enter the code Steam gave me, and the game played fine the whole way through. Your problem almost certainly pertains to the game itself and/or your computer, as opposed to any cd code issue. Here's what I would do first: make SURE your graphics card drivers are up to date (graphics card vendors will realease new drivers to fix issues like this) and then restart your computer. Then reinstall the game (it's possible there was an error in your previous install, this has worked for me on other games). If the problem persists, you can routinely comb through the discussions for this game as well as Penumbra: Overture and Penumbra: Requiem (they all run on the same engine). People on these discussions have had similar problems, and suggested turning off post effects, turning shader quality to low, changing resolution, etc. Try these one by one, then in combination. It will degrade the look of your game slightly, but it might fix your white screen.

Where did you buy it from? Was it an online purchase or a physical disc?

The standard way to do this is to click on "ADD A GAME..." at the bottom left of your Library of games, then click "Activate a Product on Steam". From there, you should be able to type in the same cd/dvd code that you would need to install the game on your computer. I've only used this feature for online purchases, however, so I'm not sure exactly how this works for retail discs. Look through any manuals that came with your discs to see if there are more specific instructions. If you've already installed the game to your computer, it's possible (again, just speculating) that you have invalidated that code for further use. If you can't register the game with Steam, you can still add it as a non-steam game. Just click "ADD A GAME..." then "Add a Non-Steam Game" and browse your computer for the .exe file that runs your Fallout 3 game. It won't play nice with every feature of steam, but you can still launch it from your library and use the Steam overlay.
