Missing Crate in Research Room - Please help!

Every youtube video I see says use the lever to drop the crate on the infected in the research room (to kill Amabel). But here's what I see in the middle of the room. A big old nothing.

I'm having this same issue right now. Actually, the crate is bouncing all over the ceiling, regardless of whether I raise it or lower it. It's obviously a physics bug. The crate is literally bouncing all over the place at about 300 MPH.

Has anybody got a patch or work around for this? Even though the crate seems to be at the ceiling pulling the lever won't drop it on the zombie. It doesn't help that the two controls are right next to each other so you might activate the lever by accident when you meant to turn the wheel crank,

Do y'all run game on 60 fps or uncapped framerate? It's almost universal answer to minor issues in old games like that
