ok so this is how you play this game
pre setup your line formation and your defensive formatiions then challenge someone, the game will then put a 2min timer or something on your name, after the 2min countdown the game results will show who won or not, you do not controll the game in anyway aside from setting up formatios, thats it, you can then view the game replay after the 2mins to see who won, kinda luck of the draw i guess

Well that sucks. Was hoping it'd be more like Mutant League Football.

There is already another Bloodbowl game that covers the classic table top experience and a more live action version included. I believe the latest full version is Blood Bowl: Chaos Edition. It is on steam as well if you do not like manager style games. Now back to figuring out how to get the play button to work.

i have all the previous bloodbowl games, and this one is just rubbish

Actually, there's far more to it than choosing your offensive and defensive formation. You can script the AI for each team member, by clicking "edit" on the formation page. It's very involved, and over my head at first glance, but mostly involves "if/then" scenarios for when the player is the ball carrier, or not the ball carrier. Pretty involved. It's still an early form, too, so the animations need a lot of work. Try the top down view to replay your games for the best effects, imo.

I couldnt test the matchs cause i get disconnected from server when i challenge an opponent ^^
But i spent an hour or so creating formations and tuning each team member position and orders. I can actually only select one formation for Attack and one for Defense for the whole match which seems not enough for me. I like the basic idea (played some similar web-browser games 10 years ago), but i think that nowadays they could have included playbooks with conditional plays where you set probabilities on the tactics (probability that this one is called) depending on situations. May they already planned something similar, as i couldnt see even one match result i cant properly guess what they could include in future...

When showing the replay, it doesn't even seem to use anything resembling Blood Bowl rules. It really is awfull.

Wow! I cant believe this game! This is not Blood Bowl.

This has to be one of the worst and most under-done betas I have ever had the privelege of playing. If this was meant to be anything like a football manager or tactics based game then it is sure missed the mark by a long shot - let alone branding it as Blood Bowl and then resembling almost nothing of the actual game it is supposedly based on.

Why can't I set up lines of attack for my offensive plays like I am assuming other NFL games do? Why is the language for the in-game scripts selection broken, poor of grammar and generally unhelpful? Why are standard skills and actions from the Blood Bowl game perks to be unlocked or skills to be taken? Surely they could have made this better than what it is, because the way it stands at the moment it is nothing but a bad App that I wouldn't pay 0.99c for.

Wow. I thought the server wasn't working. It turns out I was actually 'playing the game'. Turns out I lost twice. Once for the actual match, and the other when I installed this 'Beta'.
I actually test software for a living. Somebody needs to research what 'Beta' means, because the current release is barely Alpha.

You can, go into the playbook and edit an exisiting play, you can rearrange your players, and give them individual AI instructions then save with your own title. It's pretty vague at the moment and I hope they clean it up a lot (not to mention increasing the team size, 7 players only?)
Saint Killjoy "Pokka Wrangler" Jun 16, 2013 @ 10:19pm
Yeah I was really expecting at least 11 players.
ZoqFot Jun 16, 2013 @ 10:31pm
I'm hoping they fix that and it's a beta thing (it's easier to set up plays for a smaller number of players) but I fear it won't happen. Considering there are skills I've never seen before, I suspect they're now trying to go in their own direction with it.
