Care to share your strategy? I don't have a team at the moment so I can't see for myself.

It's gotten me pretty far, but now I'm losing to about half of the games I'm playing against.
Getting to the top 30 is when the game really started for me, that's where you're sure to find teams that have obviously put time into customizing their tactics. Also, the difference between ranks becomes much more dramatic the higher up you go (because you're suddenly looking at jumps of dozens of team rating points).
Don't worry about your few games played, good tactics are much more important than player level. As for those teams with a full roster of level 5's (believe me, I stressed over this too), just be patient and avoid challenging teams with ridiculous amounts of games played until you can take opponents with 500-600 matches under their belt. That's when you know you're ready for anything.
-- EDIT: to break it down even more, I found the difference between 50 and 150 games played to be much more dramatic than say, between 100 and 600 games played. Those first few steps are definitely the hardest. --
Most importantly, do your best to stay in that top 30. The higher you go, the more you'll get flooded with challenges from teams in the 2,000-3,000 range (don't ask me what these people are thinking, lol). All those matches will only give you 0-1 rating point, but you still get normal amounts of xp. Tough it out long enough and your little guys will be level 5 in no time.
...and Kharnath's right, do something about that defense, haha!
Good luck!
