Crashing. Error Code [982]

I bought the game and have played 22 hours with not one issue ever. Until this morning, when I suddenly started getting the crash to desktop problem. It started immediately the 1st time I tried to play after booting up today. I have since done all the suggested things, i.e. virus scan, updated my graphics card drivers, deleted all Java versions and installed the latest version (which I already had) even though the game has worked fine as it was. It is still crashing. It ALWAYS crashes about 1.5 minutes after starting the game.

I got the exact same error before trying all the fixes.

Also can I suggest having one single discussion on the lines of "Post your error logs HERE if you are having crashing issues", instead of having a bunch of random posts that may or may not get responded to.

Update: I asked Steam to to an integrity check and it said 8 files could not validate and were reacquired. Now the game crashes right away after loading the save game and before the game screen comes up.

mine keeps crashing randomly, i really like the game, i updated all the stuff they recommended but it still crashes.

Make sure, as mentioned elswhere, to delte all old java stuff before reinstalling the new one. The steam file check was a good idea still, i think the rest is the java problem.

i updated my Bios for my ocmputer and it stopped crashing. also try updating your display drivers. i hear this game is very nasti twords ATI vid cards

Same problem :( sometimes it runs great but others I don't even make it a day

ok, came back from T-giving dinner, and it seems that it acutally worked, it's just that the save game is corrupted or something. It works if I start a new map, but quits when I try to load the save.

oh btw, things I did were delete all versions of Java and re-install the newest version, update my graphics drivers (Nvidia), Steam integrety check, then ended up deleting local content and then re-installing the game. I probably didn't need to do the last as it is actually a corrupted save game, but I didn't know that at the time.
