Towns
Gnomoria vs Towns
I must say Gnomoria wins double high. It has a clean and nice interface, a clear design and is even now during alpha stable and playable and is way more slick and polished than Towns.

The biggest problem for me is the mouse control. The mouse is inaccurate and the hmm, amateurish context menus don't make it better.

I don't wanna talk about the tutorial. Patch it out. It is useless.
I am gonna stick with the game though, but I really, really hope they gonna improve it by 500%.

Guys how is this a money-grabbing scam? Don't be so hasty so as to call honest devs hacks. If you mean them releasing the game as it is now in its unfinished state big deal, all types of games get released but need day 1 patches to fix bugs and the like because in reality those types of games aren't even finished either. X-COM EU is a good example of that.

It is a scam because it is not listed as unfinished and is being sold as finished and the devs are being horribly dismissive of this fact.

Gnomoria has much better AI

I would agree. I highly suggest Gnomoria over this game. The way it was released leads me to believe that future updates are going to be few and far between if at all. The devs have already posted they think it to be a completed and playable game as is. One forum post lists them as saying that new updates may take over a year to include!?!?!?!? buy an Alpha game for $12 and not get an update in over a year!?!?!?

Come on this is total House of Shame material. If it is unintentional, it leads me to believe that the dev team is not equipped to bring a game public and therefor another reason for me to think that it will not get updated.

they said in a post that it wasn't listed as unfinished because it is playable and fun. I agree on both those, but I think it should still be listed as unfinished.

Calling XCOM:EU an unfinished game is very much equal to being a fat green troll.

Can you please post that post that says the game will not get any update for a year.

I will try. I have been reading and posting in the forums for 2 days so I am not sure where I saw it. It may have been quoted from their other game site page. If I cannot quote it, please help me look for it because it IS here in this mess somewhere.

I am generally new to steam, but did you post in that thread, and can you maybe see all your post in this forum, so you can easily find it. But to tell you the truth I doubt that devs said that, but if they did I want to know.
thunderw 11 nov, 2012 @ 10:36
It seems that somewhere it was said that the Devs do not intend this game to be release ready or in a finished state for several years. I can't quite figure out how to direct quote another thread in my reply. So forgive me for that. When I do I will properly quote the thread.

I have been trying to find a way to view all my posts from different threads, havent located it yet myself. :(

The game is fun and creative but really needs polish. A more informative interface with tooltips would be great. More animations and sound effects would be a very nice addition as well. I don't mind simple graphics but in this case it's feels a bit too budget. Now that you have money from steam sales you should really consider hiring a few people to get the game out. "For a couple of years" is simply not an acceptable time frame for a game that at its current state will be forgotten within a year once the steam attention is dead. Keep at it!

i guess i don't really understand. should we not expect patches and new features to ever come but only when it is fully released a second time years from now? "

I think they want to go the minecraft path, where it will be in alpha and beta for long time, but that quote i really don't understand

Gnomoria is a much better game. The graphics aren't as good as Towns, IMO. However, the AI and pathing are much better than Towns. Gnomoria devs also update far, far, far more quickly than Towns devs. Gnomoria devs update once a week or once every other week. I've seen months go by without the Towns devs updating at all.

Also, Gnomoria is more faithful to Dwarf Fortress than Towns. And, it has a cheaper pricetag as well.
BUT do gnomoria devs have as big updates as towns? ( i dont know XD )

None of my SHIVS worked. How can your testers not see that? Plus I had a few "hangups" where the game would no longer continue.

The game was certainly playable but bugs like that are unacceptible for a AAA game.

The art style is deliberate. It is called pixel art.

Sorry about the hapless quote thing. I don't know where they are getting info on updates for a couple of years. That seems to be sifting its way through threads and I cannot locate the original or where it came from. Could be heresay, but considering all of the events of this releaes, I would hazard a guess it is not. (shrug)
