Towns Little FAQ - what is and what is not.
There are some several recurring questions regarding the game, so i thought i'd make a small, sticky discussion thread.

What is Towns:
Towns is a strictly single player sandbox game where you are building a town over layers of dungeons filled with monsters. you do not directly control your people, but more so issue basic and general commands and they will follow.

In addition, you can attract heroes that will help you clear out the dungeons. heroes are on a completely automatic mode, they explore and attack monsters at their own free will and they will not follow any of your commands.

Towns is a game where you are going to lose. your people are going to starve and die to the sieges that frequently occur (optional), or they could die because a wounded hero has brought a great evil into your town down from the dungeon. no matter the reason, you are going to lose people and sometime whole towns.

It will take new players several attempts before establishing a self sustaining town.

What Towns isn't:
Towns isn't multiplayer.

Towns doesn't play neither like Minecraft nor Terraria - you are not playing as a single
character, you are playing as the mayor.

Thank you, Ben for helping with this.

"What towns isn't: Multiplayer"

I believe I just saw a thread asking about multiplayer lol; FAQ = spot on

People get confused that game is multiplayer because it has server support. So maybe add to FAQ what for are servers used, and what buried towns means so the confusion is minimal.

Also this thread should be locked

Good point. I don't know that the thread needs to be locked though. Leaving FAQ threads open to discussion can improve the quality of information it provides over time. It's best if the OP is keeping track of the discussion in order to add whatever information they deem worthwhile to the OP but it's useful either way.

It makes sense for something like the patch thread to be locked because there's nothing to be gained by anyone but the OP posting there. That's not so true here.

Excuse me, but can you add something like a "Freeplay Mode," like a Towns version of Minecraft's Creative Mode? That would be perfect for people to just build towns just like the ones in the Store Page.

There are "creative" mods available, which make everything free of cost and gives you the ability to spawn infinite townies and things like that.

Haven't played much with mods lately, so I can't point you to any specific mod, but you could look up in townsmods.net

This thread is not what should be locked, but the "add to cart" button on the store page. I have no bad feelings about Towns in and of it's self but I will do my best to avoid ANY game that the developers of "Towns" have worked on.

The situation with this game is unforgivable.

I agree and feel very lucky that I didn't go ahead and purchase it. I too will avoid everything that these developers make in the future since they obviously enjoy ripping people off and not giving a good game in return for our money. The fact that they haven't even updated since September shows you how much they want this game to be playable.

Don't care if these are old comments. I've got serveral games I play that I easily get bored with; however, with or without updates I never really get bored with Towns. I've got 136 hours on it and still play it from time to time. My money was well spent.

Terrible Trolling on this thread. Towns is still junk and not worth the money you need to invest to play the demo.

Necro much? And if you read my post, you would maybe have the understanding that I said I don't have a problem with the game, it's the lazy, bad developers that I have a problem with.
