starvation bug still killing off townies in v9b
This is getting frustrating... have paid the steep learning curve to finally have some fun with this game... and for the last 5 games it has ended abruptly with unexplainable starvation. Supposedly this bug was fixed in v9a, but I still have it happening with v9b (clean steam restart and new games). Please fix this once and for all, Developers! Thanks!

Anyone else getting this?

Do you have a lot of farms? Farms now require wheat for each animal every 12 hours. Try butchering animals as soon as they spawn to avoid having to feed them :)

i have the same bug, all my farms are walled in so my animals die without getting fed (this way i wont lose any animal types and wont have to feed).

With 200+ breads, i had 3 workers die nearby bread and dinnery on the screen, they did not have starvation icon before starving though.

You dont need to wall your animals in, just disable the autoproduction for farms

No. It is not a matter of simulation glitch or improper management. Yes, there is plenty of insane starvation (why would a person know they are starving, and not go grab an apple or something?). But, this is when there is plenty of food and the townies just stop bothering with eatting to death. And, the whole population is wiped out in quick time. That's it, game over, with nothing I can do to avert it.

Oh, and Tommy, you are right, I periodically go to butchering all but one or two animals. Unfortunately, if you set automatic butchering (even at 1 or 2), either it isn't enough or it is too much (and seems to kill off the farm production). Setting a farm to non-automatic would stop it's production, wouldn't it? This is a great game, some Big Fish should buy it and polish it up. But, frustrating... well, I have to go destroy a ladder to the -7 level so my townies stop going there and getting killed by hobgoblins.
You can post your saved games so devs see where is the bug

Hmmm, I have saved some of the games where the bug seems to have triggered (hoping future bug fixes might save them), but, not the ones where the population is gone. Those I just quit without saving (whats the point?)

Maybe I will take the time to test these games and post them (how do I do that?). I just don't understand why the developer(s) cannot just assure that townies do not starve if there is food available.
That is a bug, because it didn't happen to me yet, if it happens to you, save the game, and host it somewhere so devs can look at it and try to find the problem. Create a thread here {LINK REMOVED} if it hapens again

Okay. It has not happened yet in my current game. But, I am avoiding some of the possible conditions mentioned in the thread on pre-v9 bug involving multiple floors. I was experimenting with burrowing into hills for personal bedrooms and such in kind of a hive community. Also, subterrain farms and such. Maybe that had something to do with it.
I have something like this happens from time to time, but my issue is my townies will go grab a piece of food, but carrying it not eating it, so as soon as some other objectives come up, they will move to the location then drop the food on the floor and start doing other thing, i tho it was something related to feeding time or so, but isn't the townies who is eating ignores other activities until they are fully feed?

I am not sure are you new to the game or not. The thing how it works is that townies can carry the food, but will not eat it until he gets the hungry icon over there heads. When he gets that icon, he will finish the job he was doing (is it carrying some items, or mining one block) and then he should not get any new orders and go to search for food to eat. When he finds it, he will move to the dining room (if you build it) and eat there, if not he will eat it in place. But hunger will not stop him to do the order in progress, it will only stop him to do next order (so if you say that he should mine 10 blocks, he will mine one (if the hunger happened in the time he was going to do that order), and after that go to eat).

There was a situation with the market trade, when townies hauled items for trade and would not stop even if they where hungry, but I think that was fixed.

Lastest game townies wiped out again.
Was getting to lvl -11 and plenty of food about.
And, all of a sudden they all just decided to starve. WHAT IS SO HARD WITH SOME SELF PRESERVATION??? If starving, stop whatever else is going on and GET SOME FOOD!!! This does not take a study of conditions that cause the situation, just program in an overriding routine that saves the townie. *sigh* guess it is time to play some other game for awhile...
