It's a shame that this game loses it's steam before it gets interesting. I got fairly far, in my opinion, but my townsfolk keep venturing all the way across the entire god-forsaken-map to collect some ridiculous item, only to get slaughtered by some sentient frog. It's been awhile since i was really sucked into a game, and shame on this developer for playing into my OCD to build stuff. Too bad it seriously sucks. Why do people leave town? Why do people insist on traveling alone across the map without my direction? Where is the control?! Why are there no more people coming to my town? Why are my citizens unhappy? What items grant more happiness?

Too many questions and not enough direction from tool tips, not enough online resources, and not enough patches being done fast enough. At this point this is an immense waste of money. Buyer Beware!!!

Wait for it to go on sale for 75% if you feel like buying this. You'll feel much better about your purchase knowing each game you start will end with all your people being skewered by frogs and trees. Absolutely ridiculous.

This was tooooo bad to be green-lit and you should feel bad. I want my money back!!!

If you are having trouble witht he froggies in the beginning, try building a tavern and a tavern room, a hero will show up and wander around the map and help get rid of the froggie problem.

Added note: if you make 50 bread, and stop giving orders, citz will stand around and gain happiness (you can turn them into gaurds also and they gain happiness faster and they tend to not wonder off), once everyone is above i believe 16 happiness there is a chance each day that new citz will arrive (if you have extra personal rooms.) When people arrive all citz lose 50% happiness (im pretty sure is 50%)

I was coming back to see how the game was or "if" it has changed. Still see the same stuff. I think there is a current trend of Greenlight games I'm starting to see. Best just to avoid them. As with any game though, just know what your getting into before buying it. Read the fourms before making a purchase. It took me 10mins to make the decision not to buy these types of games after reading a few threads. I really liked this game, but read fourms before commiting and regretting making any purchase. Its always a risk with new developers. Although great intentions, I don't think they always come through.

Well I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with the game. Try the demo next time before you buy it. It would help in to learn first hand what you are buying into, also.

If you really feel that strongly about it, take your complaint directly to Valve. Several people have reported getting refunds, and direct feedback will certainly have more impact than posting on the forums.

I don't know about that. I am sure I have helped at least 20-30 people determine if they really want to buy the game or not through my own posts. Thats a lot more impact than the single purchase cost I made. And in my own opinion thats a pretty impressive impact.

Hmm - you don't have towns on Steam. So this is coming from a Loyalist pre-steam release? Let me know how long you have been playing and when you picked up the game. This is the typical comment Steam purchasers that are dissappointed in a game that doesn't tag itself as an Alpha/Beta up front.

hes right... it is user error. I dont know enough about the game to play it. There not enough infastructure beyond the game to educate me on how to play it. The tutorials are too vague and simple. and the fan blogs are either in french or broken english, or on youtube people are using a different version of the game that is, from what i can tell, much different from what i own.

I gave it plenty of time to make a relevant determination. I may have come off as angry and maybe i shouldnt have said what i did with redundancy, but the facts are still clear. The game may be complete from one level, but it is immature on others.

The people like Nadilus, ARE within their rights to complain, but they should not be coming into a thread of a new player and not offering assistance.

If you come on, just look for me, im usually there, and will ALWAYS help a new player with their issues.

Hell, I help older players with the things I can too. :D

As for the post about Dog not having it on steam, I begun playing Towns as a pirated copy, I then enjoyed it enough that I purchased it. Dog could be simply doing the same thing as that.

While Kaos can come off as zealous, I think he is not a bad person and if you want to make the best of the game in its current state, you should take him up on his offer.

There's an english language wiki and quite a few "lets plays" (check for version 7 or higher to be closest to current) that I used before deciding to purchase.

I searched for videos less than a month old when I was looking into the game. I always find videos (while fairly often proving to be dull) provide the best indication of the actual state of the game. It's important to get the most recent videos though even if there are older ones that are more entartaining because quite a bit has changed in this game, even in just the last patch.
