custom signs
It would be nice to be able to place signs with Player typed in data. Like in Simcity and many other simulations. Not a Townie item, just a label for Player use.

Then, things could be labeled like "Main Street" or "Main Iron Mine".

Should not be too hard to implement. Of course, it takes some space in memory, but, the ability to customize stuff and make it ones own is a big part of the fun with a sandbox type game.

We have this in mind for v13. But we will add it to game items, also you will be able to bury it for future users

So, that other thread was right! YOU R ONE OF THE DEVELOPERS! I knew burningpet was, but, almost thought Towns was a One Man Wonder. ;-)

Glad to hear this improvement is coming. Hopefully, you are also working on being able to change the viewing angle. Doesn't have to be a 360 fancy thing, just from each corner do. Most of the sprite graphics should already be done by what I see.

But... supermalparit was the one that posted the stickied patch notes thread...

Me thinks someone has not been paying very close attention.

Well, xavi (supermalparit) just coded it. i already painted a book, a wooden sign, 4 directional wooden arrows, a scroll and an engraving stone. we will also make the tombs and graves writeable.

WTF is this heresy, 3 dev posts in one thread in one day. Devs are very active lately, and already v13 patch notes. Must be because beginning of spring, love and allergies are in the air xD.

Naw, Ragnar, they are just procrastinating... like checking email instead of working. LOL, JK. Well, it takes both graphics and code to make a game these days. My brother was lead mission designer on Total Anihilation (if anyone remembers that award winning game of the 90s) so I have some interesting perspectives of the insides of a game company like Cavedog, and a Designer like Chris Taylor. Myself, have been "coding" for over 30 years (loved hacking those store displays and modding for what I wanted it to say, hee-hee). And about 20 years ago was rather active on developing my own sprite based computer games (not for commercial release, just for me).

As for reading "stickies". Why? I am a nice guy, I don't need to be told to behave. Besides, mostly I lurk ;-)

Burningpet, glad to hear it! I have just established my "crypt" on level 18, which is one of my sandbox creative goals just for fun. And, it would be cool to custom text some of it up. Already putting banners and all the best statues as a kind of tribute thing.

Code, graphics, et. al. ... Good work guys! Currently, you are THE game for me to play!

Bryced: Total Annihilation is one of my all time favorite computer games. I still play it from time to time.
