Other than soldier, do you assign your townies to specific jobs? I've not played around with that aspect of the game much. Any tips?

Also, what percentage of your population do you assign to be soldiers? 3 of my 16 townies are soldiers.

Im pretty new to the game but I do assign some of my townies specific jobs. Right now I have 2 soldiers set to defend with golden hammers, about 7 out of 20 set as my construction team ( they are set on walls, buildings, and mining), the rest I let use the regular priority system. The only thing I changed in my priority system is that I put trading with the caravans to number one.

I like doing this because it seems that bulding takes so long for me right now (I may be building houses that are way to big) but having a construction team helps to ensure that construction is always happening.

I only have 2 soldiers because I have all of my townies equiped with at least stone hammers and wood armor. This helps a lot right now while I am early in the game. They seem to be able to hold off the stronger enemies during seiges untill my soldiers get there.
