Petition: Make the Game Open Source and we may Forgive.
I hope they will make the game open source so we can develop the game on our own.
If they follow our wishes we may forgive them for what they have done to us.

I wouldn't forgive. It's a good thing to do, but that wouldn't make it all better. It wouldn't allow me to not consider Xavi an unethical ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It wouldn't change a recommendation to stay away from all of Xavi's future projects.

If they abandoned the game the very least they could do is make it open source. There is no reason to hold the code to themselves if they are giving up on it. Please let those who wish to have the code have it.

Problem is, sales are still trickling in. Xavi wants every penny he can milk from his victims, er I mean customers.

Understandable. While I hate the greed of humans, there is nothing any of us can do except try to warn off others. Still, I do really hope they release the source code so that fans can finish what they CHOSE not to.

It would get complicated. Either SMP gets people working for them for free and they keep the profits (SMP will keep selling the fan-fixed version) or someone will start selling Towns under a different name to unsuspecting buyers, maybe spending a week to change the graphics a little so it looks like it could be a different game.

Muzzy. I believe what you suggested still falls under the greed of humans. Which we, as the user, can't do anything about. At best we hope that places like steam, desura and other companies that sell indie games will recognize the similarities if that happens. I'm sorry but if they ONLY change the graphics it will be easy to see it for what it is.
