With a steep learning curve, Mount & Blade comes at you from all sides at once.
Thrusting you into a rough world full of bandits and raiders who would like nothing more than to drag you randomly about the map for a few days, Mount & Blade delivers medieval mayhem at it's semi-finest. Danger is aloof in the lands and many a quest abound. There are several Lords to gain the favor of by performing what seemt o be menial tasks, such as deliveries and persuading them to pay old debts. Some villages and Burgs desire certain seeds or livestock.. Some wish you to go out and slay the aforementioned bandits.
If pillaging is your game, then have no fear! You can hire mercenaries and other folk to travel with you. They level up with you as well.
The game does have some flaws, but the sheer open worldness of it overcomes most of these. As I mentioned, it has a steep learning curve. All skills are pretty much usage based as far as gaining in them. Luckily arenas help pass the time, as well as pay off in the end if you perform well.
All in all, I would highly recommend this game to anyone seeking a deep RPG or fps like war game with a twist. It is already keeping me entertained for hours and will be for many, many more hours to come.
