StarDrive is an immersive RPG. The amount that goes on in this game after a while starts to get crazy.
The concept is simple... zoom in and out with the mouse to view the star systems. The navigation that this game play provides is smooth and allows you to get to which system you need to view. The managing system of seeing all of your empires/planets and being able to allocate production is sophisticated enough but the user interface for it was done simply and made easy to use. Diplomacy can work for or sometimes quickly against you with an opposing empire quickly declaring war. Trade routes, non-aggression pacts, war declaration, and even colony claims can be through diplomacy. Planets come in different varieties such as gas planets, Terran, swamp, barren and a few variants. Be sure to start exploring early and claim good planets, but doing so exposes you to aliens. You will find yourself addicted to this game after a while if you like micro and macro managing planets and a multitude of ships. You are also able to create your own ships (from colony ships to cruisers) and the creation system is a neat one at that. There is also an in game fleet design system that by itself makes the game much more easier to play (and to defend against enemies).
Why I support this game even though it has a lag issues (sometimes with and without the mod) is there is a community out there trying to improve this game. Moreover and more importantly for me, you are able to control a SINGLE UNIT and tell them what to fire. You can't say exactly which guns to use, but none the less this is the right idea in my mind to create a new genre : RPG meets first person shooters. Literally, any unit that's out there, choose to control. I wish more games did this in the sense. Imagine playing Starcraft and you can control a marine. Your marine that you are controlling dies so you automatically jump to the next one or go back to the RPG screen. This to me is brilliant and perhaps even game changing in the future.
I will have to give it a 7.9/10 due to lag issues and a need for a mod but either than that I recommend it - especially on sale.
