removing swear words
I noticed that there was a quick hack to remove swear words for the windows version of CC. I took a look through the files installed with the Mac unity package and I couldn't find a similar setting.

Hate to ruin your fun, but I'd sure like to axe the foul language. Any quick hacks for Mac too?

LOL, I just figured it out. I just have to abstain from using the "f" button. :)

the ♥♥♥♥ you button is my favorite one D: it explains how i feel when i fall into a container filled to the brim with mutants

The same setting is hidden for macs in:
~/Library/Preferences/unity.Serious Brew.CargoCommander.plist
Might be not easy to edit though..

For what it's worth, note that you can rebind the key. (It's called Taunt in the control settings.) If it's important enough to avoid pressing the key, you might bind it to something you don't use much and use some utility to disable that key. You could even pry it off and drip some superglue inside.

Seemed like all was well until I hit the F key. Not exactly my favorite word. But it was funny a couple times.. LOL
Thanks for the tip, einexile.

No problem, good luck.

For what it's worth, I'll mention that I love the taunt and hope it stays as is, though a different default key might be appopriate.

When I was a kid we had this cursing box in our kitchen, it had 8 buttons on it, and each one would correspond to a different swear in a sort of hampsterdance voice. Eat s***! F*** you! F*** you! You're an ***hole! F*** you! Anybody remember those things? (Probably not in this thread, heh.)

I was think I was going to offer a suggestion for a family appropriate replacer, "Bite me!" But after I just pulled my first Alien Sex Toy today - that suggestion's rather mute.

An alien sex toy is what Daddy puts inside Mommy when hugging really close doesn't quite make the "baby practice" buzzer go off. Is there a problem?

Threads like these always make me smile.

I'm not offended very easily at all, but I'm amused that people take offence at the use of a bit of feel good profanity in the game rather than the fact that the game derives most of its fun from the player KILLING and DISMEMBERING alien beings that have committed no crime except to inhabit cargo containers that the player character intends to loot.

Try talking sense into them. See where it gets you.

No, no. Didn't mean to take the moral high ground or anything like that. Just really interesting to read about what other people find offensive. Of course people are free to find offence in whatever they choose. No judgement will be passed here. Seriously.

You don't think I really took exception to your marxist-revisionist interpretation of the game, do you? :) Just enjoying an opportunity to defend the indefensible. I got real good at this when the "Zoltan Kulle was the good guy" debate was raging, and I need to keep my skills honed.

OK, I'll have to do a bit of homework. A quick Google search has revealved a wealth of opinion for me to mull over there. Thanks.

Of course, my personal favourite is the GTA3:San Andreas Hot Coffee hack. For those too young to remember or too busy to care, the Hot Coffee hack enabled developer created but disabled content in the game. Basically, the hack let you view fully or partially clothed 3-D models engaging in mutally acceptable sexual acts in a game where murder, theft, gang warfare and anarchistic social psychopathy were rampant. You can guess what the vast majority of nay-sayers took offence to.

If memory serves, the nay-sayers were all talking heads on bad political shows. I don't so much mind that flavor of hypocrisy, though. We censor blood & guts to protect children from violence, but we censor t&a to protect sex from children.
