No. It's shallow crap.

DmC's combat is nowhere near the level of the DMC4, to the point where it's greatly simplified. Take from that what you will.

Consider this a new IP rather then the sequel to the old DMC. This one is geared towards different audience. Being Less hardcore and more about having fun by doing easier combos.

Depends on what you like about DMC games and how much you're willing to adapt to a new control scheme, the combo potential is very deep and aside from other dmc games their is honestly nothing that can compare to its free flow system.

There's definitely a lot more meat in this game than in DMC4. I personally hated DMC4 in comparison to DMC3 (though Nero did kick some major ♥♥♥ when maxed out), mostly due to the fact that it is almost literally only half a game, and this game comes to a REALLY close second to DMC3, especially the fluidity of combat and a PC port that's actually superior to its console counterparts. Sadly, the combo system is nowhere near as deep as DMC3, though no game will ever be as good as DMC3 anyway.

Did you play any of the others? This had a much more fleshed out story than most of them did. DMC1 and DMC2 had very shallow stories, and DMC4's was just plain boring, especially with two protagonists you can't tell apart.

The gameplay is solid in this one, a tight combo system (I highly recommend using an X360 controller for the game), and the level design is pretty eye shocking, the nightclub stage is my favorite.

Haters gonna hate, but any DMC fan will love the game.

That's just plain wrong. I played DmC on 360 and I simply hated it. I played every single Devil May Cry game that had been released before DmC multiple times (except DMC2, I simply couldn't force myself to suffer through more than half of the game) and even own the anime and a Dante action figure. Go figure. I'm not alone with my opinion as far as I can see when I read through steam comments or DMC forums. DmC is not a bad game but it certainly is not the pinnacle of the DMC series (that title goes to DMC 1 and/or DMC 3) and is loved by some and hated by many.

It's not a sequel, though. It's a reboot. So..why would you even think about this as a potential sequel?

This, essentially. Stop looking through fanboy-tinted sunglasses and get around the fact that he doesn't have white hair. Story is fleshed out unlike the previous games, combat is smooth(Minus the specifc weapon for specific types of enemy guys...that was a bad idea all around), and it's beautiful to look at and play in.

Well I think it's fantastic. It's only as complicated as you make it and it's a lot more casual than DMC 4

yes get it, for 10 Euro now on the sales its pretty much worth it !

Don't expect combat as tight and complex as DMC3 or 4, and the characters are a bunch of ♥♥♥♥♥ no matter how many people excuse it because "hurr your just mad cuz hair". That being said, it still has much more content than 4, and bear in mind that combat not as good as DMC3/4 doesn't instantly mean bad, because I still call it better combat than something like God of War.

If it is just the best combat you're after, go drop a pre-order on Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. But this is still a fairly solid hack and slash and I'd call it worth the asking price if you want something right now.

The story is a mess, but has some flashy 2deep4u symbolism which fools idiots into thinking it's smart.
