What are ridge markers for?
They look important, but I have no idea what they do. Anyone know?

They are to mark where the center of the tractor should drive (while planting) on the next pass after the one you're on. You should be able to watch the hired guys using the ridge markers while planting. In FS 2011, the ridge markers on the 2 larger Horsch planters didn't seem to work for some reason. Hope this helps. Cheers! :D

Thank you very much. I knew it had to do with lining up the seeder but never was quite sure how to actually line it up. I grew up on a farm, but we did all our seeding with hands and hoes and not a mechanical seeder.

From what I've seen -- and I could be wrong about this! -- it's purely a visual problem.

One time I accidentally had the ridge-marker on the wrong side and didn't notice until I got to the other end. I drove over the "damaged" crop and tried to re-seed it and, although re-seeding fixed the look of the crop, it didn't use any seeds at all - so I'm assuming the crop would have still grown in that area.

The ridgemarker does however destroy already grown crops

...why would you use seeders on crops already?

I did it. I meant to raise my cultivator but hit the wrong key.

It's too bad it's so finicky with where it will show up. It would be awesome if it could make a curvy line instead of jumping from one line to another if you drift a little.
