what I've learned in ten 40 hour weeks
after playing (on hard level) for many many hours and having enough money to buy the biggest field, I think I've reached a point where I can make a few observations about the game.

Liquid and solid manure are not worth the bother. I'm sorry I bought a solid manure spreader. The chemical fertilizer is the way to go because it covers huge areas without continually refilling. The Amazone UF1801 will fertilize all but the three biggest fields with one fill.

The Mex 6 was a waste of money for me. Grass is everywhere and is easily mowed and collected. Grass will make silage, just as corn chaff will, so no need for the corn chaff. Corn has a very high yield so small fields go to corn, the biggest fields go to low yield canola.

There is so much time available compared to the time needed to process fields that there's no need to work at night. You can speed up time to get through the dark hours even if crops ripen because it only takes an hour or two to bring in the biggest fields - a small amount of time compared to the time a field will remain ripe before withering. Just make sure you don't have any hired hands working when you do the time warp.

The Schluter tractor is a waste of money. Get the faster, cheaper and less fuel guzzling Hurlimann.

Greenhouses are nice, easy to keep in water and manure. Cows are nice. Sheep are cheap and only need grass. The wool produced is fun to play with with the frontloader and fork. I think the Wiedemann front loader is the most challenging and interesting machine in the game. I have three of them.

The Courseplay mod is a must. I couldn't handle all my tasks efficiently without CP to take over the job of getting vehicles from place to place and for servicing the harvester. CP isn't perfect, but untangling vehicles isn't so frequent a job as to be a nuisance. One of the later game pleasures with CP is going about your business and seeing your other vehicles running around doing their jobs without your attention.

Only one harvester is needed even for a huge farm because, again, there is far more time in the day than is needed to process many fields.

At a certain point, it isn't worth the bother to pick up and sell straw, but for quite some time it will make the payroll.

I'm curious about maps other than the default Hagenstedt, but I sure don't want to start over from scratch!

I've enjoyed FS2013 - it's a very satisfying game and couldn't be less stressful. Unique among the games I know, you can get things going and leave the game running while you attend to other things, then come back to it later to find the jobs you assigned have been completed.

Just my opinion but Hagenstedt is the worst map available for 2013 ... its horrible ^^

So if you got that much enjoyment out of a map like the default one you will blow your lid at some of the modded maps ^^

That's a problem I have, too many darn maps! hehe I sure hope as hell I'm not limited to only the 30 saved game folders I see in the game?
Thanks for your insight Clif9710.

You can get the external account mod and I believe you can transfer money from one saved game to another and also from MP games. That way you don't have to start over from scratch on each new map. You'll have your money to use although you would just need to buy the vehicles again.

I guess that is the best that can be done. It would mean you'd have to buy all your equipment over again at full price, while getting only half price if you sold off the same equipment in the original game. Once a farm is up to good size and producing lots of grain, coming up with gobs of money isn't too hard, though, so getting the funds from the first farm to spend on the second is achievable.

Yeah the external account mod is great .... i use it to transfer funds between 7 different farms at the moment.

Another good mod is the bank of hagenstedt mod where you can increase the loan size to buy new machines but the higher the loan amount the higher the interest repayment
