A lot of bugs, but thats because they just released the update and its still considered a beta.

Are you 100% sure you met ALL the contract requirements.....alot of them (esp the 'in orbit' ones) have rather small speed and altitude windows for completion.

This. You're probably doing something wrong, Banana Joe, but without more information it's impossible to tell what that might be.

The "test this" contracts do work, they are often just missinterpreted on what you have to do

The Contract wants me to test the lfb kr 1x2 in an orbit around kerbin. I am in an orbit around kerbin, how do I "test" it now?

For most tests you have to trigger a stage with the part when you have met all conditions. Do not trigger the part anytime before. Some components may be tested by a special parts action (rightclick on part -> test).

In your case you have to specify a stage for the lfb kr 1x2 (during construction of the rocket) which is to be triggered as soon as you established an orbit around kerbin.

click the little blue [+]note in the small contract window during flight. It explains such things ;)

That is not true anymore as far as i can say. Used the liquid fuel booster to bring itself up into orbit and had no problem completing the contract.
I believe they changed it so now activating and right click test are the same thing.

And on a sidenote: You could always shut off an engine, rework your staging and activate it again, couldn't?

I tested it (with the before mentioned contract) and you are correct The_Mell. You don't have to activate the part through staging. It's enough to right click and test it when you are in an orbit around Kerbal.

If you want to save yourself some effort with testing solid rocket boosters, right click the booster you want to test in your VAB and set the fuel to the minimum on it, will save you a bunch of weight. No idea about contracts being glitched out, haven’t seen it myself.

you don't need any fuel to test an engine ;)
