NEW IDEA FOR QUICK TRAVEL TO OTHER PLANETS
I think that the developers should add a feature where you can quick travel to a space station on any of the different planets. where you can build and test ships and spaceplanes on those planets without haveing to land on them

Planetary Launch Pads mod.

wouldnt that be a bit too OP? after all, it wouldnt be that easy if you first had to bring a ceratin ammount of parts to the planet. just look at mods like hyperedit, thats cheating, nothing more

Testing does not = cheating. Hyperedit and mods like that are for TESTING purposes. Using stuff like that to straight up play the game? Well.. it's single player so I still don't think it can be called cheating. But it would sure get boring as hell, really fast, if thats all you ever used to play.

of course not, i am just trying to say that, for me at least, it is not the same feeling when you test a plane or spacecraft a lot of times and then succed, or if you create a plane/spacecraft that probably is just enogh, and that in the end even works. the feelin after ste succses is just different. that doesnt have to mean that i dont respect your opinion, only just that my opinion about these things is different, i would be happy for a discussion:)

WAY TO OP

well in sandbox mode i don't see why not, i use sandbox for testing all my designs

Y'know, that is a great observation.

However, I do this a lot too. And while I can definitely see the draw in equipping yourself to ditch out and save a pilot if something terrible happens, and just going for it, you gotta say that testing and tweaking that escape module (for example) might just be a good idea before taking to the skies. I just take that as a good idea in lots of situations, to confirm base concepts and designs especially, to make sure that things won't catastrophically fail immediately due to some small oversight and cost some poor Kerbonaut his little life... :P

Gotta say though, testing out a design that works on the first shot is always exhilerating.

So, to me anyway, taking the core concept and design of something like an interplanetary cruiser that will be built in orbit and never experience a glimmer of atmosphere (except maybe in a very rare and anxiety producing aerobrake meneuver) and being able to put it in space with something like Hyperedit and ensure that a full burn won't just cause it to distentigrate and send itself cascading into the planet over an area of several hundred thousand square miles... That's a good thing to be able to do.

I say NO. Just because to violates the build it and go crash or fly that is KSP.

BUT...

I would like a way to automate with game, not with a mod a milk run flight. For instance after X number of successful flights the ability to automate the flight. Like sending fuel to a station sort of thing. If the pay load is exactly the same as well as the ship it does get old having to make routine runs. Better still, an unlock in the career mod as an option.....

But quick travel? No. Please no... How could you experience the joy of slamming into space garbage after 100's of flights? =)

by quick travel i meant having there be more kerbal space programs on different planets where you can test you different designs in different atmospheres in the sandbnox mode. or in career you can choose a different planet to start on instead of just kerbin( like duna ) and it would play out like normal were you would try to get to other planets from there
