Diamond in a rough.
The Journey Down is truly what I'd call a point-and-click adventure game. Unlike many 'modern' titles offering a lot of meaningless wandering and clicking, this one actually tells a story and does it well while at the same time keeping on a fine edge between being overly easy and stupidly hard and counter intuitive.
And let me tell you, I got that noir-ish feeling as soon as I started the game - and it's there alright. It's very similar in atmosphere to noir movies, and, actually, leans a bit towards Grim Fandango (the game). The art style, the music, the humor, the characters and backgrounds all blend together marvelously and produce quite the unique atmosphere and thus the unique game.
Chapter Two is already out and I can't wait to see it, since Chapter One actually ends with a cliffhanger a few miles high (and I tell you can take it quite literally too).
Do I recommend it? For those who appreciate a good noir movie with a pinch of healthy humor it'll score about 10 out of 10. For others probably around 7 or 8, it depends.
