Yeah, I like this game
It's obviously a cash grab and you can tell it's rushed. It isn't really much of a survival game. This kinda reminds me of those demo discs you'd get in the mail from PC gamer or in a cereal box. With a 4.2 hour campaign it makes it the shortest AAA title ever [I am almost positive of this]. I don't recommend this for full price but for sale? It's worth it.
This is perhaps the biggest complaint I usually hear. Though honestly the bugs aren't bad. None of them are game breaking. Some of the bugs include a zombie flying through the air or crossbow bolts floating in the air. One bug is actually pretty awesome where zombies will de-spawn. Most of the bugs like, never happen. When they do it's either funny or really nice.
Oh boy. Ok so, this is made by Activison and it shows. It's feels like Call of Duty in that, you are directed a long a semi linear path where you can't jump on some objects. I found barricades where I could have easily jumped over in real life but no, the game wants me to go around to see all the zombies.
Once done in one area you pick your next destination and you can decide whether to take Highways, Streets and Backroads. Each one has it's chance for scavenging options and it's fuel consumption. Does it really matter if you stop? After awhile no. I found so much fuel in previous levels and ammo is tossed at you if just look so honestly stopping has no point but to just explore. The Scavenge and "A car is blocking the road" tend to repeat. I saved a survivor then 50 miles later stopped to scavenge in what looked like the same area as I saved that guy.
The controls feel clunky, really no reason to stealth, zombies respawn, the list goes on and on and on and oooooon with bad or meh aspects of the game play.
But I like it
I like it because it is fun. I have only been a PC gamer for like 2-3 years. Before I was a console gamer. I learned to find enjoyment in anything I bought because at the time I had no internet and GamerInformer was my magazine [which means I got lied to a lot] so I bought my games at Gamestop. I was happy to get whatever game I could because there was no steam sale where you could get 20 games for 30 bucks or anything like that. So when I got a game I focused on the good.
This game's good?
It's nice and simple and mindless. On sale it's worth it. There is some good placed jump scares, some intense moments and zombies become a threat in huge numbers which a lot of good zombie games miss. The levels are open-ended. There is Achievements. Picking a destination alters the game just enough to keep it interesting. I can be fun if you get this game on sale. If I paid 49.99 I wouldn't be praising this game.
Sucks. Sucks. Sucks. Sucks. The Dixon's don't really act like the Dixon's and the last level was like....uhhhh...let's just say without spoiling it: you'd never see this in the show...which brings me to the next section.
-FAITH TO THE TV SHOW-
If you compare this game to the TV show you are not going to like it. I didn't mainly because this is a prequel and it's a game. A game of the TV show truly would be "Cry cry cry cry BANG cry cry cry"
One bad thing is you never kill humans. Not once do you combat bandits. I find that kind of incredible when the show had more human killing than zombies....I know why....don't educate me.
I say, on sale buy it....you may enjoy it if you don't go in with a harsh mentality.
I will be filming soon for my channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/BubbaliciousGaming
