Quake Arena vs Quake Live?
Hey all looking to get back into the Quake scene and i actually baught this game on one of the steam sales and i have yet to really touch it because later i had heard about quake live but i have yet to play either game yet. I wanted to know the pros and cons of both games and everyones thoughts on them.

I was wondering what the community likes better and which game they still PLAY as well, should i start playing Quake Arena or Quake Live instead?

I prefer Quake 3 Arena. The main reason I hate Quake Live is they completely removed the gore. The Quake series always had blood/gore so to me it's a let down. Maybe some people don't care about it, it's about the gameplay, but it's not nearly as satisfying killing other players when you can't gib or have any blood at all.

Unfortunately, the community for Q3 is pretty small, but you can find server IP's at places like Game Tracker if the in game browser isn't finding anything.

No problem, you're welcome! I highly recommend using Game Tracker. You just make a free account on their website and download the software. Then just browse servers on their site then click the join button. Loads up your game and connects automatically. It's a LOT better than using the in game browser. It's clunky and has lousy sorting options. It supports a lot of other games too.

I can always find a game going on, been playing again the past couple of days. I still have the retail version I bought years ago.
