Getting good at Quake 3?
Does Quake 3 take a lot of time to get good at it, or is it like Half-Life Deathmatch where all you need to know are on how the guns work and function?

If by "good" you mean an AGHL skill level then, it obviously could take some years.
But if by good you mean "decent skill" then some weeks are enough.

Getting used to the netcode is one of the hardest things in q3 btw.
If were to play 4 - 6 Hours a day yeah then youd be "Decent" In maybe a few weeks. Ive played for 5 Years and I still consider myself kinda good.

What do you mean by that?

I've been playing since around the time it came out. I use to be a great railgun player. Could move all over the map while aiming the railgun. My accuracy was spot on. I remember playing this on my 56k modem. Man, I had to get use to the second delay. Those were the days.
