Source Games flashlight bug

I have had this bug for a long time and have never found a answer, to put it simply is that the flashlight doesn't work. it will only illuminate some parts of the map, such as a door or some physics prop, when I type in
r_dynamic 1
r_shadows 1
r_newflashlight 0
It works but the flashlight is square, could someone help me out? thanks.
(It happens for any source game with a flashlight)

Do you have a nvidia graphics card?

If so you have to install the old GeForce 285.58 drivers. Whatever they did after that broke the flashlight.
