Dumb question...is there a mod to make HL or HL2 a 3rd person game?
So, yeah, is there a mod to make HL2 a 3rd person game?

I can't stand 1st person camera modes and love games like Skyrim that allow you to switch between camera angles. I made it through HL on the PS2 but I can't seem to get though HL2 (orange box) on the Xbox 360. Is it worth getting the PC version for mods either for health/ammo cheats or if there's a 3rd person mod?

Allow dev console, open up console during game, type in sv_cheats 1 and then thirdperson.
Health/ammo can be modified in a similiar way, it's all built into the source engine.

This will disable achievements for that session. It should also be noted that OP has it on the console where the player has absolutely no freedom.

And? You can easily unlock achievements via other methods if you're really that bothered. He's looking to buy PC version, I was just showing him how easy it is to do the things he wanted :)

You were talking as if he was on the PC version, totally ignoring the fact that he actually has it on the console while making no mention on whether it was worth it to re-buy for the PC(to the OP, yes - it's always worth getting the PC version of something if your computer can handle it).

But we're not here to argue semantics. OP, I think I read somewhere that if you buy one of valve's games retail, you can activate it on steam for no charge. See if your copy came with a serial number or something, then go to games > activate product on the top of the steam window.

Chumm, Thanks for the info, i know i could Google it (and i did) but i figured there would be a better more informed answer here.

ownomics, I understood what Chumm meant about the developer console option. I was asking about the PC version so i expected an answer about the PC version. Thanks for the clarification though.

I haven't been a PC gamer since the late 90s/early 00s, but with things like the humble bundles and the 90%+ off sales on Steam it's hard not to buy the games. Hell, I've rebought games on PC i own i Xbox 360 just in case it RRoD (again). I have a lot of games i can't run on my current rig yet but i plan on making a new rig next year.
