Cinematic Mod 2013
Greetings everyone:

Ok; here is my take on Cinematic Mod 2013. First let me say that it is a bit of a pain to get. It is broken up into 19 files with each being 500MB. After reconstruction it weighs in at just over 9.2GB. It does have a rather lengthy install since it needs to extract a whole lot of files and Valves new VPK container verses the old [G]ame [C]ache [F]ile or (GCF] format. It then searches for and copies some new VPK files into a seperate folder thereby avoiding further instances of Valves tendancy of breaking MOD's with future upddates (no offense Valve but the modding community has been keeping this game relevant for many years). Unfortuantly this means you will have duplicate files of various sizes in different folders so if you are low on space beware. It does come with the character pimper so you can select the models with which you want to run. The ♥♥♥♥ty Alyx debate is once again mute since it is disabled by default. I prefer the hidef models for Barney, Dr. kliener, the civillians and the Combine. But the default ones for Dr. Breen and Eli vance, and ofcourse Alyx. The configurater is still the same you can select the default or Cinematic mod's difficulty settings and weapons. I prefer the default weapons but the cinematic mods difficulty seetings. Also you can select the Cinematic Mod music or disable it. I personally like the music (Batman Begins, Transformers, to name a few, well a couple actually since a few would be 3. But hey this is steam and no one can count past 2 anyway).

It is less bloomy than version 2.21 (thanks Fakefactory) but the crosshairs are near invisible so it does make it difficult to shoot barrels surrounded by the combine. There is a bit more graffitti, the not so appropiate kind. So if you are a parent heads up!! There is less scaffolding as well but I am only up to water hazard. And if I recall most of the scaffolding was in Highway 17 and episode two.

The cheats are enabled by default so if you are working for achievements or cards you might want to disable them, command is SV_Cheats 0 for those who want to know. So far I have not needed to noclip anywhere. On previous version 2.21 you had to noclip past the gate the vortiguant was suppose to open just before Nova Proespekt, right after the mini boss fight with the antlion queen. As I mentioned before I am only at water Hazard.

Graphics are really nice and add allot of detail and realsim to the game. Lighting is great. You do not have to use the flashlight as much in the lighted areas. Obviously you have to in the tunnels but it is supposed to be dark down there. The airboat is way more drifty then it used to be. So it does not turn so sharply. I like it ! Also there is a Lamba cache added to the area you first get the airboat just before the Water hazard chapter begins. Easy to spot since you have to go there to open the gate.
It stuttered a bit in the Route Cannal part but I have not set the heap size and that should fix that next time I get back into it.

I will see about posting some screenshots when I append this post. Also i will add info about Epsiodes one and two. But so far it runs smoothly and no game breaking problems. just occasional stuttering, which should go away once I set heapsize. The music can be a bit loud at times so should turn that down a bit.
Oh the settings are:
Audio= 5.1
Resolution= 1920x1080 16.9
AA= x8
Aniscotropic Filtering = x8
HDR = on
Everything set to highest as far as textures, models and such.
Video synch = off

Again that is my take so far, but I am not far into Episode 0 yet.

Ok at this moment there is not a torrent that I know of. The mod is still in Alpha phase. But here is the link to the thread in which you can get the mod. You will have to copy and paste the adresses into your browser, or wait unitll a torrent becomes available
or it reaches full release and is officially posted on ModDB.

You can visit their website at www.fakefactory.com and look at whats happening. But the latest full release version 12 is NOT compatable with HL2 as of June 2013 when Valve repackaged their containers to the VPK format from the GCF format. So unless you have
been playing HL2 and its episodes in offline mode and disabled automatic updates three months ago version 12 will no longer run. Hence the need for the 2013 repacked version and why it is still in Alpha.

Greetings:

Not much to report. Took a bit to get past the rocket battle at the light house part. It kept crashing to desktop. took forever to get windows to cough up an error code.
But got past it. Here are some shots of the end of the sandtraps area. and I can confirm that the vortigunt no longer gets stuck after the queen battle and opens the gate for you.

Help me! I can't disable cheats to be able to earn achievements, sv_cheats 0 does not help, when I reboot game (mod) cheats reactivated and achievments don't work. need to edit the configuration file in the mod directory?
In vanilla half-life 2 all work, well, but want play game again with this cool mod and earn remaining achievements

I might download this when I upgrade my computer, but that I don't like the way Father Grigori looks, so two questions:

1. Are all models replaced (like our Father)

2. Can you not use the custom models (like just take the models out when installing the files and having the mod work with Valve models)

You don't have to use custom models, you can set them to default using the character primper, which should be provided with CM13, but I assume they are already in default when you first play. And of course, they aren't replaced completely, you can change them to normal as I said previously.

So yeah, character primper will answer that for you, change them all to default, and never have to use the custom models, but of course with the default models, they did have to make them a bit more detailed in graphics, but at least they are themselves but with a little graphic enhancement. I hate those custom models, the only ones which look good imo are Barney and the Combine.

Cheats are enabled by default on this mod. So disabling will only apply to that area, and will be re-enabled if transitioning between area's or reloading a game. Also Steam achievments are not available with this mod. If you are trying for the achievements then you will have to run HL2 vanilla, instead of this mod.

The reason cheats are enabled by default is because at the time this version was released it was still in Alpha phase and some players were reporting the need to noclip to certain area's. Or certain AI que's were not happening and needed to noclip through a gate since the AI failed to open it. I personally have not encountered this with version 21013, however I have in version 11.

The models are the default Half Life models. You can select main character models individually with the character pimper. A small configuaration utility that the mod comes with for selecting character models. So you may only change the models to you want and leave the rest vanilla. If you do not use the character pimper then all the models by default will be the HL2 Valve original models.

Just a quick one, I too have couples of CM13 pictures, don't wish to spoil anything if you haven't played the episodes with CM13, but I want to show at least this picture of Ep2, I can't help like the graphics so much, HL3 will beat it, and that already blows my mind.

Just an update:

I have not been able to get to the other two episodes as of late. I changed a few things on my Pc and I have not put everything back on that I play, or fiddle with. That and the fact that Skyrim happened. Appologies but it was a good deal, I manged to get it at 75% off. Will get to it soon though.

Did you ever find a way around this issue via the configuration? I find that "SV_cheats 0" even when re-apply-ing it in-between each area is not working... playing the HL2 non-modded version is just a bit boring.
