Invisible Combine and crashing
Im playting through thr game for the fitrst time and the game instists on crashing whilst i am trying to take down the second generator powering the supression device in "Follow Freeman". This was not happening until a few days ago and I have validated the cache as well as making sure it is not due to the lastest update. Any advice for fixing it would be great if not oh well.

I have the same issue, some combine 'show up' but are invisible. Once one of the dies the game crashes to the desktop.

This started happening after I recently did an update yesterday that told me I needed to 'convert the game'.

That has been exactly my experience also. Seeing that you have the same problem, maybe the game conversion process created the problem afterall. I don't know about you but my game had some files that had to be dowloaded during the cache checking process but they did little to help. I only mention it incase it rings a bell with anyone with a similar problem.

I FOUND A FIX. As simple as it sounds just by replaying from a new game save at the chapter "Anticitizen One" the problems are fixed. I had no crashing or problems with the Combine. Have fun playing through as I have just finished my playthrough and really enjoyed it.

but wouldn't hitting new game make a new game and you would have to start all over again or is it just chapter selection?

Just start from chapter selection or an auto-save/earlier save file. That worked for me.

This post really helped me out! I've been playing only since a couple of weeks ago.

You don't need to start a New Game. Instead, look through your list of saved games for one listed in "Anticitizen One", and play the game from there. Yes, it means backtracking, but I'd prefer 30 to 60 minutes worth of backtracking than crashes making the game unplayable.
