Won't save game on Mac
I figured I'd finally catch up with the new millenium and play Half Life 2. It won't save my games. I click 'save game', choose the save game and click 'save'. It says "saved" but then no save games appear on the "Load Game" list.

Anyone seen this?

Never heard back from Valve but here's how I managed to solve this.

One of the recent steam updates has caused HL2 to look for save files in the 'Common' instead of the 'Steam Username' folder in Steam Apps.

So take your save files which will all be chilling in here:
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/Steam Username/half-life 2/hl2/SAVE/

and copy them over to this folder:
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/Common/half-life 2/hl2/SAVE/

And voilá, all your saved games should reappear next time your start HL2.
Achievement progress seems to be lost though, so if you we trying to get Lambda Locator like me it's back to square one anyway.

Hope this helps, cheers

Also, if your future saved games don't appear in the list after you do the above, chances are HL2 is still saving to
~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/Steam Username/half-life 2/hl2/SAVE/

in that case each time we will need to manually move new save files to the Common folder until Valve takes notice and decides to fix this!

meh, seems like my problem is even weirder, you see i installed half life 2 on my external hdd, and when i browse the steam files there, the location seems right, i might try it on my internal hdd but it would be useless anyways, i need the space
