Some Weird Glitch or is it an update?

Ok, ive been testing my maps im working on and the thumbnails on the weapons were normal, i want to play a little gmod and i saw the thumbnails got words and the crosshairs was Q after ive done playing gmod i was ment to test again my maps when i tested ingame i saw the same problem in half life 2 (but without the Q crosshair) can somebody explain me what it means???
