HALF LIFE 2 CRASH! *HELP PLEASE*

hello guys,i'm using windows xp and i used to play half life 2 on steam,basically when i open it i just see valve and source intro,but when the game is loading it crashes with an error like this:memory "xxxx" has done referements to the memory "xxxxx" the memory cannot be read,click ok for close your application....what do i do?!?!

with MOST of steam games....but just because i've got a shi*ty computer...it worked before with my frend's account.....i mean c'mon! :(

What exactly are your PC's specifications?

Try opening task manager and ending tasks you're not using

i runned it in with low resolution(by using properties) but it still not working,this time for an engine error,it just says that a .txt file is missing...

Verify the integrity of the game, if its not all there re-download it
