Half Life 2 makes me sick
If I play HL2, I get headache. After half hour playing I feel me sick.... terrible feeling.
Does anyone feel something like this?

Let Me Google That For You... Dec 25, 2012 @ 12:59pm
Yes, with other games. But I will tell you it's either you're sitting too close to the screen, or it's the adrenaline rush. I used to play Wolfenstien and had the same problem. I would get terrible headaches and feel sick because I was so focused on the screen that I didn't even blink hardly at all.

You need to increase the FOV, and to do that you need to enable the cheats using
sv_cheats 1 and then type "fov 90", 95 or 100 choose the number you want.
you wont be able to unlock achievements if you do that but you can try this
"sv_cheats 1; fov 95; sv_cheats 0" that way you can have a higher fov and cheats off.

what is FOV?
yeah, i tried to play counter strike 1.6. and took the same aches but not so huge as by playing hl2. For few years Ive played cs 1.6 every f..ng day and everything was allright )
The problem is, I like HL so much but it just explodes my brain ))

Of course it helps, low FoV are for consoles, having a higher FoV on a PC FPS game is a must have because you are closer to the screen.

I hope it helps :).

You don't have to cheat to incerase fov. There is a fov (field of view) slider in advanced video options.

It never worked for me, at least not in HL2 and Ep1 only in Ep2.

May it also be that you play in dark? In that case put some backlight to your monitor.

Weird, it works fine for me. Maybe they fixed it lately.

Hi there. I just wanna drop in and say thanks because I'm also going through the same problem. This morning I downloaded and played Half Life 1 but could barely manage to get past the first half hour without almost throwing up. It was mostly a result of the fast walking speed and FOV.

So I just read over the plot for HL1 on Wikipedia because I really wanted to play Half Life 2. If I go through the stuff with sv_cheats and all that, do I have to do it everytime I start the game or is it a one time thing? Also, am I missing out on much by not playing HL1 and just reading the plot?

good idea too increase FOV and also try not to sit so close to the screen. If you're playing on a 15" screen I think I would understand.
Usually all I feel is drousy after a while of staring at the screen. But never sick. Maybe a game like Street Fighter IV with all the flashy colors, and obnoxiouse noise would get me there, heh

It happens to me sometimes when I play games like minecraft or garys mod occasionally. I think its because I have a 27" Screen which Is a bit too big :P

in Half-Life 1 you need to use "default_fov 115"
the default FoV in HL1 is 90 and i can't play it at 90.

and a 115 FoV helps a lot.
