Disable controller defaults?

is there a way to disable the new default setting that valve added to Half life 2? Im using a logitech dual action controller which I had settings in before the patch was put in. now it defaults to a broken Xbox360 setup, and it overrides my previous settings, making my sticks useless. is there a way to fix this (preferrably remove valve's default settings or something)
