Problems With HL2

So I'm playing hl2, and i'm on the speedboat. The graphics look good, lighting is all good, the framerate good. Then I get to the next level and the lighting just goes away. all it is is textures and that's it. someone explain this to me?

If you don't have HDR on, turn it on. That should fix it.

I ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM I HAVE THE DISK FOR HL2 BUT STEAM STILL SUGGESTS BUYING IT WAT SHALL I DO ?
I BOUGHT THE GAME OFF OF STEAM ON A DIFFERENT ACCOUNT
