Game crashes when loading previous area

Hello...

I just downloaded HL2 and have been playing it for a couple of days. The game seems to be running fine for the most part, but whenever I try to go back through to a previous area (through a loading screen) it just stops responding. This has happened twice now. It's not ruining the game or anything, but it's quite annoying whenever I get lost and go backwards inadvertently.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Wait, don't worry - it seems to have fixed itself. For now, anyway... XD
