Half-life 2 low fps?
I recently bought Half-life 2 and I tought "damn, my pc is gonna run so ♥♥♥♥in' good it will be like it's not even needing to overclock", but then it just lagged like hell. I have a Windows 7 64 bits laptop, i7 2630QM 2.0GHz 6 GB RAM and a Nvidia GT 550M with 1GB dedicated to it. Drivers are up to date, and I run the game with nothing else running in the background.

Do you have the same problem with any other source game?

nope, left 4 dead 2 runs smooths as hell, but I guess that's because of GeForce Experience

okay, tested out with the mods for half-life 2/source mods, it looks like that the problem is with singleplayer. Half-life 2 and the stanley parable both crash or have bad performance, meanwhile the hidden and suicide survival have great performance.

Update.
Apparently, after I reinstalled the game it runned way beter. Still, after some minutes it got back to running like crap again...

Do you have the Episodics for HL2? If so, does it happen with them? (Or Lost Coast.)

I don't have the episodies of HL2, but I have lost coast, and damn it runned smooth as a baby's face. Tested several times with the recommended settings and with the settings maxed out. 70~90 fps while recommended and 60 fps maxed.
