Half-Life 2

Please add the option to install Half-Life 2 to a different HDD.
There are many games that require this feature (like Duke Nukem Forever).
My SSD is small so I like to install games that are not demanding to a different Hard Drive.

Indeed.
If VALVe truly respects their community, why are they doing this?

You can now! :D

OMG!!!!!!!
I'm sorry, I don't see how to do this. When I try to install HL2, it doesn't give me an option to install anywhere else, where is the option? Thanks.

I uninstalled my HL2 and tested it. I have to admit that the option STILL doesn't exist.

I just installed it a couple of days ago and it DID give me the option. I have it installed on my E drive.

Its there. Its a little dropdown thing that is seen on the same page that tells you how much space you need to install the game
I see no dropdown boxes. I even took a screenshot of my computer screen as evidence:

some games you can some games you cant or maby thats some times you can and some times you cant

as i can put hl2 on and diferent drive and hl1 and spin offs but not hl1:S
Because Steam only stores the Source engine once on your hard drive, you can only install to the drive that where the Source engine files are located. If you uninstall every game that uses the Half-life 2 version of Source, you will get the option dialog to install to another drive when trying to install the game. Every game that uses that version of Source you install after that will automatically be installed to the same drive (to conserve drive space by not having to store the same files twice on 2 seperate drives).

I saw there were new posts here, so without looking at the thread, I went to see if I could install HL2 to a separate drive. I can, now. I haven't done anything dfferent, didn't uninstall any source games or anything. It may have been with the steam update which came last night, I don't know. But I can say for sure that I can now install HL2 wherever I want.

This is for fluxarray, isn't that starting to not be true anymore? I was under the impression all the source games are getting steampipe updates, so they won't have to rely on a pool of shared files anymore.

I disagree. ALL my installed source games are installed at E drive. When I try to install HL2, it only allows me to install at C. When I try to install Half-Life: Source, it only allows me to install at C.

There are different version of Source, and afaik HL:S and HL2 use the same version. The other games you have on your E (like TF2, CS:GO, L4D2 I presume) use the newest version of Source. There is probably still a game on your C which uses the HL2 version of Source, like maybe Alien Swarm, Zeno Clash or Payday (only third party Source games I can think of), which forces your HL2 to the C drive.

I have no such games installed. As I said before ALL my installed source games are at E. I had some leftovers that steam had not deleted so I deleted those files manually. I still can not install HL2 on E :(
