Half Life 3 Story Idea
Just finished a playthrough of the entire Half Life 2 campaign with a friend who owns the game (I am buying the entire HL collection in a few days) and I know things are vague on the development of HL2: Episode 3 much less Half Life 3 itself, but I had a crazy idea I think might be "inspiration" for Valve if they even check up on this forum!

So I'm going on the assumption that Half Life 2: Episode 3 wraps up the entire Combine/Xen empire threat. If so, Half Life 3 should start in a non-combat situation where Gordon and Alyx are together and enjoying life helping some former Earth resistance members rebuild Earth or whatever. Suddenly G-man puts Gordon back into stasis and there's a short interval sort of like when you are being teleported to Dr. Kleiner's office while you're in stasis. You come back from stasis (either someone can get Gordon out or G-man lets Gordon out for some reason) and wander around for awhile, getting subtle clues that something has changed -- over the last 20 years. So G-man has kept Gordon in stasis for 20 years (time lapse could be different, I don't know). Why has G-man done this? To keep Gordon out of the picture, possibly because G-man could actually be working with or leading an alien coalition/empire -- remember the easter egg right after Ravenholm where you can see him walking away with a Combine? So G-man is actually helping this alien empire (I'm thinking other than the Combine, that would explain why G-man allowed Gordon to destroy them in Half Life 2, duh) and that's why he let Gordon destroy the Combine -- to allow the other alien empire, that G-man is working for, to not even have to fight against the Combine. Now that the Combine is gone and Earth is weakened from the Combine attack (although they're working hard to reconstruct), G-man's aliens come in and try to take over but for a legitimate reason -- aside from resources, I don't remember any specific reason for the Combines taking over Earth. There needs to be something essential to the aliens' survival that can only be found on Earth or something like that.

Anyway, once Gordon gets out of stasis years after the end the HL2 series and finds the earth falling apart again (except much more severe than HL2, I'm thinking catastrophic stuff here) and now he has to go on his final mission with an awesome new Mark VI HEV suit to stop G-man once and for all. Because we all hate creepy guys with weird voices who keep interrupting our normal lives by putting us in a time warp for years while all of our friends get older than us and die, right? There should be a GOOD final boss battle unlike HL2's lame ending with the stepping stones up to Breen with an extremely boring ending where you shoot dark energy blobs into a shiny sphere.

Oh, and I think Alyx, Dr. Kleiner, and any other main characters from HL2 should be dead in HL3. Maybe a plot twist could be that, at the end of HL3, Gordon has to destroy whatever means the G-man is using to put Gordon into stasis, thus allowing him to go back into time for the last mission of the campaign to the time before he got put into stasis at the beginning of HL3, and basically change history to stop the G-man alien invasion from ever even happening, thus saving the lives of all his friends. I know, it might sound hokey but I think it could be awesome if done right. What do you think?

Atleast it isn't one of those ideas, you know, the ones that Chell and the Portal Gun. Those are as bad as trollfictions.
OH MY FRIGGERDOOTLE! I am getting so sick of that, how would the game even function with two mute characters. what would they just stare at each other. oh and great ideas CPT G.REEVES but you really need to play episode one and two A LOT changes and there are A LOT of twists.

I did NOT say: Hes giving the Snipers a hug.

He got it from me saying that the G-man was with a combine at that point. Maybe I'm mistaken though :) I'll check it out later.
